Bio

Randy grew up in a neighborhood in Lakewood, Co. full of mentors, race car builders and drivers, carpenters, people who built and created things. As a young boy he spent countless hours drawing cars and plans of functional objects. Eventually he built cars and many of his inventions became reality. Randy won many awards for scale model building of cars, railroading, rockets and etc. He began working at 10 years old doing remodeling for his father who owned flooring wholesale showrooms and would outfit them with custom racking and interiors. Randy advanced his skills by working in different trades including auto body and paint, electrical, plumbing, commercial tenant finish, tile setting, flooring and other trades. After these many endeavors, he started his company “Custom By Rushton” which is now 35 years in existence.

As owner operator of Custom By Rushton clients hire Randy with ideas of what they want to have made and he helps them take their ideas from concept to completion. He also consults on complex design and engineering issues to move a project in the right direction.

Randy has had a lot of mentors and has worked as a maker for over 50 years. At this point in his career he would love to share this knowledge with others that have the same yearning to make and fix things.

Randy likes to start with the materials which are mostly reclaimed beautiful objects from a different time and mindset and designs around them to achieve a unique mesmerizing product.

Some projects that Randy did or had a strong part in and around Denver are: Restaurants include the design and build of City O City, Watercourse, El Camino, Ace Eat Serve. Commercial include Melrose and Madison Pearl St., Moss Pink, Hinterland to mention a few.
