Smitty Regula has been leading a double life since he started concocting contraptions in the late 90's. Metal, familiar discarded materials such as appliances, machinery, architectural pieces, and non-substantial family heirlooms often find their way into his creations. Smitty's choice of materials tends to appeal to an amateur lay audience. He holds a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Houston. Smitty is known for the Hen-a-tron, a 14-foot-tall metal chicken art car, as well as art bicycles and sculptural collages. In his other life… well, that is a story for another day, but we can tell you he is easy to spot in a crowd. There is always a light bulb hovering above his head.
