Using symmetry and repeating patterns, Metamorphoses explores concepts of duality and multiplicity.
By infusing forces of nature with recognizable iconography and symbols of various cultures, an Other World comes into existence within contradictions. Various domains of both nature and man-made structures are also depicted side by side to encourage viewers to think about the "crossing" between worlds.
The Lone Star, which represents the state of Texas, is incorporated through the mural. A Texas horned lizard becomes a mythological dragon turtle found in East Asian iconography. Familiar animal mascots of the Wild West are fused with other natural and fantastical elements, accompanying viewers on a journey to edges beyond what is known.
