Bio
A notion of space drawn from Ramón Bonilla's imaginary recalling of particular places provide a context and imagery for his work about the here, there and nowhere. His work is produced through addition, juxtaposing and the cancellation of visual elements and materials. Intricate line work, visual texture and asymmetrical shapes evoke a stoic remoteness in time and offer a muted view of possible futures.
Bonilla, a Redline Contemporary Art Center alumni, has shown at Understudy at the Denver Theater District; The Foothills Art Center in Golden and Paradigm Gallery in Philadelphia and Galerie S16 in Montreal.
His artwork is part of the art collection of Little Raven Apartments; Le Meridien Hotel Denver; Element Hotel Denver; Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center and The Four Seasons Hotel And Resort Beverly Hills.
In the past Bonilla has been represented by Michael Warren Contemporary and currently is associated to Space Gallery in Denver and Simon Breitbard in San Francisco. He has collaborated on successful projects with Muros - Chicago; Absolut Art - Stockholm; Local Language - Oakland; Eaton Fine Art - Austin and Nine Dot Arts - Denver.
His mural work has been commissioned for The Gates Building; Nexus BSP; Stanley Marketplace; Bonfils Stanton Foundation and Southwest Plaza Mall in Littleton. Mural work has also been shown at the Arvada Center, 516 Arts in New Mexico; Denver Architectural Foundation "Doors Open Denver" and the Denver Art Museum. Bonilla has been featured on 5280’s Home magazine as one of “The Five Local Artists To Watch And Collect”.
