Bio

Shokka is a multidisciplinary artist primarily working in illustration, animation, and screen printing out of their home studio in Brownsville, Texas. They have made several hand-drawn animated music videos, and screen-printed countless shirts and posters since graduating from the design program at UT Austin.

Shokka works with clients creating commercial work all over the country, and travels around Texas with their wife, Souther, popping up at shows and markets to promote their small business, Tree Haus Creative. Shokka’s art is fun, vibrant, and subversive - a style influenced by their upbringing in the 90s.

Their process is all about merging the physical and digital aspects of art by creating hand-drawn designs scanned and rendered on the computer for a unique style. Once the work is rendered digitally, Shokka turns the process around and creates physical screen prints or paintings, actualizing pieces in the real world. One thing they love to do in their work is to merge multiple art mediums by screen printing or painting animation frames. This creates a finished product that is also a glimpse into another process while leaving the work ultimately unfinished until the viewer sees the full animation played out.
