Gyraspore (she/her) formed when a buoy (a floating light meant to guide sailors) was taken over by a mutant ocean fungus born in the “Gyre”, an immense floating garbage patch of toxic waste polluting the sea. Gyraspore has the ability to transform toxicity into beauty—not only toxic waste, but also toxic emotions, offering love, positivity, and creative inspiration to anyone who needs it.
For so long I drifted alone on the top of the brackish, waiting, thirsty, empty.
One night, I felt a ripple… Oily Colors came strobing together
Glimmering molecules from every fragment of sensation
And fed me tendrils of imagination
Fertilized by tears or inspiration
Now I feel rare
But part of everything
Beauty-full
But different than anything
And now I feed it to you
