The human experience of feeling apart of yet infinitely separate from nature, tethered and subdued by the unflinching realization that all of us make up one living, breathing phenomenon.
This mural contains three major focal points, tied together through strings of lights, amorphous shapes, and a band of glowing color. The intention was to take the setting of black light as an opportunity to use light and the way it reacts as the through line of experience for living creatures. The skull represents humanity whereas the very different organisms are meant to symbolize the variety of life on Earth. The deer on the left is the anchor for the entire piece, its antlers branching off into the organic cosmos. The fungi represents the constant growth and change bubbling under the surface and something that is shared by us all in death. Finally, the jellyfish -- seemingly the most passive of creatures, surrendered to the currents and momentum of our singular life. It is very intentional that all of these elements are separate yet overlapping and bound by one singular force moving forward and never stopping.
