Houston, and Texas, boast some of the largest colonies of bats in the world - they are the night shift of pollinators and pest control, vital to our survival, but often misunderstood and underappreciated. Much like those radio DJs who fill the late-night airwaves, bringing joy to those who happen to tune in.
Upon opening an unassuming filing cabinet, visitors will discover a wayward disc jockey. During their evening hours at the radio station, a dimensional disturbance drew DJ Marcel Lagos into storage within the cabinet, along with elements in their immediate environment.
A moth drawn to the lonely light of the window, pursued by a bat, was observed by the DJ as they refilled their favorite mug with the dregs of silty coffee left in the pot from their day-shift colleagues.
The DJ now exists without knowledge of the time that passes them by, blissfully listening along to wavelengths that have now warped into the chirps and buzzes of bat echolocation. They’ve found a new audience for their broadcast, small (and furry) in size, but large in number.
