The Music Mill is a three-sided musical instrument and the power source for Omega Mart’s Factory. This 500-pound geometric steel sculpture, covered with sensor pads, speakers, and reactive lighting, is an industrial-grade “jambox”. It allows guests with literally no musical training to intuitively compose melodious, collaborative soundtracks for Dramcorp’s multifarious uses. The sounds of whistling steam, crackling electricity, and machinery-in-motion are skillfully pre-organized into sonorous harmonies and pulsating rhythms, all activated with simple gestures. The Music Mill facilitates the transformation of source energy into audible vibrations, creating a conduit for boundless creativity and spontaneous human connection.
