Goldy has it all: looks, style, wealth, fame, and recognition; dozens of records that have gone platinum; countless country chart topper;, a wildly successful autobiography (ghost-written of course) titled The Bible Belt Buckle; mansions in Nashville, Austin, L.A., and even grand Paris. She is a flame being, hot hot hot, she is literally ON FIRE! And yet, with so much, deep deep down, she feels as though she has so very very little. Though she brings incredible light and warmth to every situation, it often feels as though all that she touches is bound to be incinerated. A hot potato Midas touch indeed.
She had her humble beginnings at the open mic at Cowboix Hevvven, singing and playing alongside Batsy, Moody, Angel, Cisco, and Eloc. So bright and brilliant was she that her renditions of all their songs were absolutely stunning, and it was in covering the works of her friends that she rose to stardom with her first Album Yee Haw, Boo Hoo, Whatever. She was promptly signed to Golden Goose Records. A whirlwind world-wide tour ensued that lasted an unbelievable 20 years. The awards just kept rolling in; stage plots and music videos always getting grander, more phenomenal. The Grandeur of the Spectacle of the Country Music Icon Goldy was unparalleled! There have even been talks of having Goldy as the very first performer on the moon!
And one night, just before she was set to take the stage in Sydney, to perform for a crowd of half a million people, she set her golden guitar down, and the crowd hushed, and she said “I’m so sorry y’all, but there’s someplace I need to be”. She walked off stage, stepped into her stretch limousine, and was nowhere to be found.
She knew she had to go back, to reconnect, to walk through the burly gates of Cowboix Hevvven, to see if her one time crew of very best friends would have her back. To see if there’s any going back at all. As she stepped up to the front door of her favorite old haunt she said out loud “Goldy honey, sometimes it seems, even if you own the whole wide world, you ain’t got nothin’ to lose.”
